AMA ATV MX Nationals – Unadilla – Pro ATV Race Report
Josh Creamer Back on Top with the Overall Win, Wimmer & Natalie Podium
New Berlin, NY – RockStar Makita Suzuki’s Josh Creamer and Dustin Wimmer ruled the podium at Unadilla, with Creamer taking the win and Wimmer the runner up position. Can-Am/Motoworks’ John Natalie would make a hard charge in moto two and claim the final spot on the Pro Podium.

Round number nine of the 2010 AMA ATV Motocross Championships was held at Unadilla in New Berlin, NY, where racers were greeted by a fast and challenging track that would separate the top riders from the rest of the pack, but would deliver a potentially season ending blow to one racer in the second moto. Despite the carnage, the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team would again rise to the occasion as the dominant force, bringing Josh Creamer one step closer to his first national pro championship.

The number 9 of Josh Creamer made a hard charge from fourth off the start in moto one, quickly making the pass on Joe Byrd when Byrd bobbled in the first lap. Creamer then held his position in third for a few laps before applying the pressure to Wimmer. Despite a solid effort, Creamer would stay in third as he crossed the finish line.
In moto two, Creamer would take second off the line and wait patiently for leader John Natalie to tire before making his move to the number one spot. Natalie did not want to give up without a fight, but Creamer was able to hold him off for the rest of the moto to take the moto win and the overall. “I’m out here to win, that’s my goal. I got a little more focused for moto two and I was able to come out here and take the win. There are two more rounds left and I am hoping to come out for both of them and take the win,” stated Creamer.
Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Dustin Wimmer, won the ATVRiders.com fastest qualifier award with a time of 1:50.79 and carried that speed over to moto one as he would take second off the line behind Upperman. Unfortunately, Wimmer had plenty of company and was busy holding off his teammate Josh Creamer and would have to settle for second in moto one. In moto two, Wimmer got off to a less than stellar start and had to work for his fourth place finish, but it was enough to put him on the podium in second overall.
Can-Am/Motoworks’ John Natalie got off to a slow start as he had to make his way all the way up from back in 11th place in the first moto. Natalie would charge hard and make his way into the top five before reaching the checkered flag.
Natalie would be on a mission in moto two and would take the holeshot and lead for half of the moto. Natalie would fall back to second when he would make a mistake under the pressure from Josh Creamer, but he would fight back until the end and take a strong second, which would put him in third on the podium. “I just went out there and did my best in moto two and took the holeshot,” said Natalie.
Can-Am/Motoworks’ Chad Wienen worked his way through a bit of traffic in moto one to challenge Josh Creamer for third, but was unable to get in a position to make a move, which would leave him with a fourth place finish. Wienen came off the line in a strong third in moto two and would hold his position from start to finish. Wienen would try to close in on Natalie late in the moto, but to no avail and would finish mot two in third. Wienen’s 4-3 was enough to earn him fourth overall.
Baldwin Motorsports’ Josh Upperman grabbed the moto one holeshot and led the race from start to finish, taking a, what seemed to be, effortless moto one win. “I got a great start and did my best to hold on to the lead. Hopefully I can do it again in moto two,” said Upperman in between motos. Unfortunately for Upperman, he did not get the start he was looking for in moto two as he was stuck behind a first turn pile up. Upperman would not recover well from his slow start and would finish moto two in ninth place.
Can-Am/Motoworks’ Jeremie Warnia was looking solid and consistent in the first moto. Warnia would battle with Natalie and Thomas Brown before crossing the finish line in seventh place. Warnia would put on a strong showing again in moto two, and would battle once again with Thomas Brown before taking a sixth place finish.
